Appnews.net – software updates

1 An interesting and well coordinated new site has been launched by ghacks ,freewaregenuis and Rarst. The name of the site is  Appnews.net  ,some combination of software update listing site, with extra links to blog write-ups of the updated software, and quick download/twitter/email links. Appnews.net was born – joint project of Rarst, freewaregenuis and ghacks  to bring you more software, more updates and more reviews.

According to one member of this group ghacks on  donation coder forum

"it's a joint project that was first supposed to become a feed only but we decided to create a website based on that. It basically offers a feed that gets updated whenever a software that has been reviewed at one of the sites gets updated. Most of it is automated but some has to be done by hand, for example adding new applications to the list. Rarst did all of the coding and stuff and we (that's Samer of freewaregenuis and me) did help shape the functionality and such.

It is a service to our readers that get the benefit of being informed when a good software has been updated with the option to read up on it at one of our sites. It's currently not clear where we go from here. Possibilities are to include more blogs and an archive among other possibilities. What we need right now is user input. If you got anything to add let us know. Good things, bad things, we like to listen  And if you have any questions let us know as well."

Overall this website concentrates on the software as they have reviewed and also freeware updates with links to additional information. It can be used for getting to know the softwares which been updating in each week or days and its been good source of information.

As Rarst one more contributor of Appnews.net website says at donation coder forum:

"Thank you for the write-up. As Martin said above site itself is more like front-end for the RSS feed with updates, which is core of it all. For those interested in technical side I had posted some details. I made first version of feed for my blog and it worked fine for my readers. Much later I decided to make things more interesting and useful - and with help and input from Martin and Samer it gradually developed into Appnews.net.

It is very young (like three days since release) project and there are quite a few ideas and people flocking around it already. All feedback is welcome and all suggestions will be actively considered for future development"

KERALA, GOD`S OWN COUNTRY

in_flight My fascination for tour of South India springs from three paramount significant considerations which according to me are comparatively more safety, better affordability and lesser headache for availability of both air and landline tickets than most of the places elsewhere in India. Also, package tours are more complete and less worrisome when compared to my bizarre experience to other parts of the country. So it is not surprising that I have travelled in this direction umpteen numbers of times.

I do not usually undertake package tours where I am, at times, forced to make adjustments especially with regard to lodging and boarding as things do not appear as rosy as they are promised to be by the tour operators. Of course, they take advantage of our helplessness and total resignation to their mercies.

We preferred chilly winter to scorching summer while undertaking the tour of South India inasmuch as the later is more severe to forbear while the former is more pleasant due to its less severity. At the end of the journey, the gain was more enjoyment, more comfort, less stress on purse and lesser worries. The tour operators are less vulnerable than elsewhere and they almost give you what they promise.

I boarded a Delhi to Trivandrum flight by Indian which gave me more comfort than other domestic airlines I had travelled earlier with. All the tall claims of all other airlines I have travelled earlier in are only publicity stunts and they have less to offer in terms of comfort and safety, though they are miles ahead in their way of treating customers. But only beautiful uniforms and captivating smiles do not guarantee you the safety and comfort you are aspiring for.

KOVALAM

Kovalam beach with three adjacent beaches is both beautiful and enjoyable. The beach of Kovalam is nothing short of a swimming pool as the sea is less wavy and shallow – ideal for sea bathing. Sunbathing and swimming here are exciting and enjoyable. The evening beach beauty can be better experienced than told. The night breeze can be enjoyed from the window panes of your hotel rooms. We spent a two days in a beach-side hotel there devoting the first day for sea beach and the second one to see seeable in and around.

Kuthiramalika

Closed on all Mondays, this is a palace of the erstwhile King of Travancore where you find rare woodcarvings.

Napier Museum

This museum remains closed on all Sundays & Wednesdays. On all other days you can see many rare collections.

Padmanabha Swami Temple

The temple is famous for its mural paintings and Dravidian styles of stone carvings.

Shree Chitra Art Gallery

Vast varieties of the Rajput, Mughal and Tanjore among Indian paintings besides large collection of paintings from China, Japan, Tibet and Bali have been kept here

Tour of Alleppey and Kumarakom

Alleppey is 165 kms on road from Tiruvanantapuram. We hired a taxi to this on the third morning after breakfast and had a pleasant night stay at house boat which reminded us of our three-decade-old Dal Lake experience. The next morning, we got transferred to the backwater resort to enjoy full and square the whole day and night with palatable food and beverages.

Cochin(kochi)

The distance we had to cover was 75 kms by cab. We had a plan to stay there for a couple of days. We had our early lunch and set out for half-a-day sight-seeing tour keeping the other half for the following day when we arrived at Kochi in the afternoon itself for complete rest and good food. What we saw on both occasions offered us more than our money’s worth as we were neither tired nor lacking in the spirit to enjoy more and more. The first day we went by an a/c luxury bus and on the second day by an a/c tourist car. But we found the bus more comfortable and enjoyable, though in cars you can customize to see things remaining at enjoyable places as per your sweet will.

Kochi offers you Chinese Fishing Nets, The Hill Palace Museum (closed on Mondays), Santa Cruz Basilica, this historic church built by the Portuguese, The Jewish Synagogue (closed on Saturdays & Jewish Holidays), the centre for Spice & Handicraft shops, Mattanchery Palace (closed on Fridays).
Perhaps a few selective offerings of the palace like backwaters, house boats, Chinese fishing nets and beautiful churches suffice your love and lust for the place which less other places offer in India.

Web_browser Microsoft has ideas of distributing Internet Explorer 8 to the end users through its channels of distributions of updating its Windows Operating systems. The distribution will be started in the third week of April for users running Internet Explorer 6 or Internet Explorer 7 on the Microsoft operating systems Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008. This will be updated to the corresponding users of windows such as Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 2003 Server and Windows 2008 Server users.

1

The catch word is that Microsoft will not be installing it automatically it will give the choice of option to the users to install it or not to install it.As per my understanding so far IE 8 is better than in every aspect from its predecessor and some website rendering problems exists but the real catch is that also option is there where you can run that website in compatibility mode means in IE7, so that problems not there now.Especially some websites like Blogger,Gmail,Twitter like Ajax website once load run in a  very satisfied and unified manner by looking at the speed as well as security.

However if you want to block the installation of IE8 then Microsoft also released one toolkit and by running that toolkit you can block automatic installations of IE 8.

As ghacks suggests :

"The majority of users will most likely perform the install of Internet Explorer 8 which is beneficial not only for them and the security of their computer system but also for web developers who usually dislike the older Internet Explorer editions."

I 'am missing YOU!

Too many words left unspoken
But I have so much to tell
Too many things left undone
But I have so much in mind
There is rhythm in the air
But I can`t dance
This the pain of missing you
When the waiting will be over?
Oh! My Dearest Love
My submission is
Listen to the unsung, undeclared
Music of my heart
Singing the pang of Love
"I 'am missing YOU!"

FIRST LOVE

happy_heart Its a
New feeling
Unique
Foreign feeling
First time I felt.

I find myself smiling
I realize
You gave me reason to
Smile
Hope
Gave me so much
I can never ask for more.

Yes this is love
In my heart
So deep
Which I would always keep.

I close my eyes
Thinking how far you are from me
Though distance between us
Kept us apart only in body
But never in heart.

First time
In my life
I found my love
My life
Without you my love
I will die!

I Never Thought.....

heart_with_wings Love
What it felt like,
I just never knew,
I had no idea about it,
Only knew the spelling.

One day you came into my life,
The world is changing.
My world is changing
The world all around me.
I looked into my heart
Saw a treasure
Millions more than could be treasured

Ah! This is love!
I thought.
I Never Thought I would
Fall in Love with You...

Click on any column-header to re-sort the list.
Edit the archived volume label when necessary.
Date formats are customizable (edit registry entries Software/rOva/Cathy/Format/)
Command line parameters expand the functionality a little:

Free Launch Bar- Replacement For Quick Launch Bar:

Free Launch Bar is a Free replacement for the standard Quick Launch bar. All functions presented in Quick Launch are also in Free Launch Bar. However, the Free Launch Bar is fully compatible with Quick Launch because it uses the same folder for shortcuts. But there is one huge difference.

Free Launch Bar allows combine shortcuts into groups. Due to this improved short cut management resultant is the enhancement of yours hardisc space. As the website suggests it launches programs in lesser seconds than quick launch bar but as per my viewing if it so then it hardly noticeable and visible impact on the user is minimal.

1

Why Free Launch Bar?

As the website suggests:
"First of all you already have almost all features of Free Launch Bar on Quick Launch. You can create menus with Quick Launch, but you must hold down CTRL key to open menu and you cannot rearrange items inside menu. Free Launch Bar is the excellent replacement for

Quick Launch, it uses the same technology. Free Launch Bar is the only FREE software that can be integrated into taskbar. If your Quick Launch have some tens of shortcuts, Free Launch Bar help you to organize them into nice menus. You do not need to open stupid dialog boxes to add, remove or rearrange shortcuts - all you need Drag&Drop or right-click shortcut."

The main features of Free Launch Bar:

Creating menu on taskbar with unlimited levels
Compatibility with Windows XP
Integration into Windows Shell
Low resources
Compatibility with Quick Launch
Creating separators to group shortcuts inside menus
Different view modes
Hotkeys
Using PNG pictures as icons
Support of Windows Drag&Drop technology. To add shortcuts you can simply drag them into
menus
Improved tips. You can include some of HTML tags into button description.Fast toolbar switching

Review:

At first instance it seems bit weird but with due course of time it seems a good add-on but

the sad part of the schemes is that though it is a freeware but it seems lighter version of its own shareware  True Launch Bar . As in Free Launch Bar cannot be done advance separators,Plug-in, Virtual Folders, Skins, auto close menus, auto runs, context menus,auto-sensing ,live update, back up and restore.

But above all lots of things can be done with Free Launch Bar at least more than the basic that is of quick launch bar.

- You are using Microsoft Office 2003 Professional with SP3 slipstreamed and you are installing from CD/DVD;
- You are using Microsoft Office 2003 Professional with SP2 and Update for InfoPath 2003 (KB920103) slipstreamed and you are installing from CD/DVD.

In order to correct this, some changes needs to be done to PRO11.msi. Office Slip streamer can do this automatically. Changes which Slip streamer will do are described here

Office Slip streamer can check if you need the fix and if it was successfully applied, but after you finish slipstream use CD-RW to test installation of your Office 2003 Professional. If you are not affected with problem, do not apply this fix!
